Google Timeline
Google tells us what I have done in the last years ... what an ego trip.
Well, I guess in 1991-1995 there wasn't a lot of Internet traffic - seems like that the
"movement" got active in 1996 ;-)
Note: This is just Google's point of view, actually I have done various other
things and some things found by Google are not relevant at all ;-)
1996
Aug 1996: On the Java hype, port SKYRiX to Kaffe + Jigsaw
1998
May 1998: started work on GTKKit still available on a Russian host ;-)
Aug 1998: using the Kaffe JVM as a shared library ...
1999
Mar 1999: working on GTKKit - an Objective-C wrapper around gtk+
Sep 1999: Work on ANTLR to compile Java to Objective-C after having realized that Java is indeed only hype ...
2000
Jan 2000: working on the Objective-C/Python bridge
Jan 2000: EOF and identity
Apr 2000: charsets and NSString
Jun 2000: use glib as a basis for GNUstep? Idea rejected by GNUstep, but I still think that glib isn't too bad and it doesn't make much sense to duplicate efforts.
Jul 2000: learning about how to integrate LDAP into SKYRiX
Sep 2000: working on a Windows port of SKYRiX using MingW. It finally worked, but was almost
unusable because the Windows memory allocator was about 500 times slower than the one on Linux
Dec 2000: wondering whether ZODB would be a nice backend for SKYRiX
2001
Jan 2001: The thing which was nice about Java was the GC - did a lot of work to add GC support
to GNU Objective-C. Worked a lot with
Ovidiu. Boehm GC saved us a project.
Dec 2001: Apparently I convinced Nicola to work on gstep-make. I can hardly
believe that it was me who had the idea for the new setup ...
2002
Feb 2002: discovering XML-RPC issues ...
Jul 2002: playing with Subversion as a document storage backend for OGo ...
Oct 2002: RC vs GC - how a GC works
2003
Feb 2003: FOSDEM!
Feb 2003: Pushing Erik to work on MCI to make XML-RPC services available in IB
(might be obsolete on Panther, sorry ;-)
Mar 2003: working 'round the clock to get ZideLook/ZideStore ready for CeBIT ...
Mar 2003: adding BPROPFIND to libneon?
Apr 2003: blocks in Objective-C?
Other Helge Hess's
1992: Wrote a book on "Retrieval wiederverwendbarer Softwarebausteine" - well, no, thats wasn't me, but apparently someone has exactly the same name ;-) I tried to
get that book, but couldn't get my hands on it :-(
Work at SAP? Well, no, thats not me ;-) I wonder whether this is the same guy who wrote the
book above ;-)
Seems like I successfully use some software as a "Director" at IDS Scheer
